Dear Parents and Carers
The sun has finally arrived and the children have been choosing to spend most of their time in the garden recently. I’ve seen lots of lovely learning with many of the older children now working together to achieve their outcomes. Their physical development often takes a leap once they start spending more time navigating the slopes and challenges of huddle wood. We also have so much to look forward to during the next half term. Many of you will know that Tricia Kent MBE, the founder of Truro Nursery School sadly passed away a few months ago and in her memory we are holding a commemorative afternoon. If you know of anyone who has a connection with the Nursery (previous parent/child/staff etc) then please let them know. There will be messages on social media and also the press to look out for. Tricia kindly left a donation to us to allow us to take the older children to the Eden project so that is something exciting to look forward to. In addition the newly formed Friends of Truro Nursery School are funding for the younger children to have a fabulous animal experience with Mark’s Ark. Busy times ahead!
Any parents concerned about preparing their child for primary school – we will be putting on some information sessions called ‘getting ready for school’ so look out for them. For all parents, there are two things that evidence shows make a big difference to children’s development: one is the development of language so find time for lots of conversation (the subject doesn’t matter) introduce new words and talk about them. The second is to read to and with your child as often as you can and at least every day.
Enjoy half term and lets hope the sun continue to shine so that you can get out and about.
