Mrs Helen Mills
Co-opted Governor
I have worked in my current school, Truro High School for the past two decades and have been lucky enough to work in all three infant classes which included working with Nursery children. I also enjoy teaching Art in Key Stage 2. I have a keen interest in the education of younger children and have undertaken research in this field when I completed my Masters Degree in Education. My next challenge was in becoming a Governor and I consider myself very lucky to be one at Truro Nursery School. Outside of the workplace, I enjoy cooking, painting and gardening.
Mrs Laura Read
Parent Governor
I have been on the governing body for Truro Nursery School since 2018, first as a parent governor and now with the role of Vice Chair. I graduated with a B.Ed (Hons) in Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status in 2008 and have worked as a teacher for the last 12 years. During this time I have gained further qualifications in Special Education Needs, Safeguarding, The Prevent Duty and have responsibility in my job role for curriculum development and Pupil Premium. It is from this experience that I aim to make a positive contribution to the ongoing success of Truro Nursery School. I have a personal motivation to support the nursery, following first-hand experience of the inspiring work that they do with the children in their care.

Mrs Marie Thomas
Parent Governor
I am a parent governor and was elected in January 2019. I moved to Cornwall in 2001 from Cheshire and I have a family of 3 children with my husband, Mark. Jasmine is 23 and lives in Japan teaching English. Fletcher is 6 and attended Truro Nursery School along with his brother, Cooper who is 5. My professional background is in mental health where I became a registered mental health nurse in 2006, being in the first cohort to qualify with Plymouth University at the Knowledge Spa in Truro. My nursing career has spanned across working on acute mental health wards caring for adults to managing a team of nurses and admin within a community setting and I am currently a Quality Improvement Manager in the QI Team at RCHT. I am passionate about being a parent governor at Truro Nursery school. I whole heartedly support their ethos and enjoy being part of the children’s and staff members journey there.
Mrs Rebecca Hayward
Parent Governor
My name is Becky Hayward and I have a passion for the wonderful setting that is Truro Nursery School. I have two little boys who both came here and had a fantastic time, with the outside area and wonderful staff completely setting it apart from other nurseries in Truro. I work part-time as a tax adviser at Francis Clark accountants and have lived in Truro for over twenty years. I am at my happiest walking on a beach or in the muddy woods with my family, friends and my little dog Poppy.
